ABSTRACT
This research aims to develop the design and manufacturing process of exploratory furniture that utilizes used bottle crates as the main material, with hollow steel and Dutch teak wood as supporting materials. The research methods include surveying ergonomic and functional parameters in several public areas, designing concepts that integrate the concept of reincarnation to enhance the utility value of used materials, and collaborating with vendors in the production process and finishing stages. The finishing process is carried out systematically, starting from surface preparation to the application of clear coating paint, particularly on wooden components, and the selection of finishing materials that prioritize not only aesthetics but also durability for intensive outdoor use. The surface of the furniture is designed to be smooth and resistant to friction to meet the needs of board games that require durability and ease of maintenance. The results of the study show that this method successfully produces functional, aesthetic, durable, and environmentally friendly furniture products. The advantages of this method include innovation in the use of recycled materials and effective collaboration with vendors, which enables direct quality improvements, resulting in high-quality final products. However, there are limitations in the reliance on vendors for the improvement process, which could potentially affect completion timelines. This research makes a significant contribution to plastic waste management and the development of creative products based on recycled materials, while also offering an economical and environmentally friendly furniture solution for everyday use, particularly in the context of board games.
