EVOLUTION TOWARDS FREEDOM: SUN GOKONG AS A SYMBOL OF HUMAN BEHAVIORAL TRANSFORMATION AS INSPIRATION FOR SCULPTURE CREATION AT THE LABDA SCULPTURE STUDIO

This research aims to create a sculpture that represents the philosophical meaning of freedom through a gradual process from human behavior to self-awareness by making the character of Sun Gokong as the main symbol. The method used is practice-based research by combining additive and subtractive techniques in the sculpting process. The creation process involves the use of aluminum wire, resin, talc, gypsum, clay, and coloring with antique nuances to strengthen the symbolic depth of the work. The resulting works are six sculptures that represent the stages of human development, starting from primitive forms to culminating in the figure of Sun Gokong as a symbol of spiritual and behavioral transformation towards freedom. Each stage of the work visualizes the development of human consciousness, from instinctive existence to rational, disciplined, and spiritually mature conditions. The implication of this research confirms that sculpture does not only function as an aesthetic object, but also as a medium for critical reflection on human values, inner liberation, and the meaning of true freedom in contemporary life.
