Peer Review
Bhumidevi: Journal of Fashion Design is committed to upholding the highest standards of scholarly publishing and integrity. All submitted manuscripts are subject to rigorous evaluation through a fair and thorough Double-Blind Peer Review process.
The Double-Blind Review System
To ensure impartiality and objectivity, Bhumidevi utilizes a Double-Blind Review procedure, where:
-
The identity of the Author(s) is concealed from the reviewer(s).
-
The identity of the Reviewer(s) is concealed from the author(s).
This method promotes honest and objective academic critique by focusing the evaluation solely on the intellectual merit and scientific quality of the manuscript, free from personal bias.
Steps of the Peer Review Process
The review process typically follows these sequential steps:
| Step | Process Description | Duration |
| 1. Initial Screening (by Editor) | The Chief Editor or Section Editor conducts a preliminary assessment to check the manuscript's suitability, adherence to the journal’s scope and author guidelines, and basic scholarly quality. Manuscripts failing to meet these criteria are desk-rejected immediately. | |
| 2. Plagiarism Check | All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and textual overlap using reputable similarity detection software (max. 20%). Submissions exceeding the acceptable limit are rejected. | Included in Step 1 |
| 3. Reviewer Invitation | The Editor invites a minimum of two independent, external experts in the relevant field to review the manuscript. All identifying information about the author(s) is removed before sending the manuscript to the reviewers. | |
| 4. Double-Blind Review | Reviewers assess the manuscript's originality, methodology, clarity, contribution to the field, and overall quality. They then submit a detailed review report and a recommendation to the Editor (Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject). | |
| 5. Editorial Decision | The Editor collates the reviewers' reports and recommendations and makes the final decision on the manuscript. This decision is communicated to the corresponding author. | |
| 6. Revision (if necessary) | If revisions are required, the authors are given a specific timeframe to address the reviewers' comments comprehensively. A point-by-point response letter detailing all changes is mandatory. | |
| 7. Final Decision & Acceptance | Revised manuscripts are often returned to the original reviewers for a second round of review (minor revisions may be handled by the Editor). Once all concerns are satisfactorily addressed, the manuscript is formally accepted for publication. | |
| 8. Production and Publication | Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout (typesetting), proofreading (by author), and are subsequently scheduled for publication in the upcoming issue. | Varies |
