Archiving Policy

Hastagina: Jurnal Kriya dan Industri Kreatif is dedicated to guaranteeing the permanent availability and preservation of its published content, recognizing that the scholarly record in Craft and Creative Industries must endure. To safeguard this content against loss due to technical failures, discontinuation, or organizational issues, the journal employs a distributed, decentralized archiving strategy utilizing the world’s leading preservation networks: LOCKSS and CLOCKSS.

1. The LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) System

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS Program to ensure a distributed and permanent archive.

  • Decentralized Preservation: The LOCKSS system, developed by the Stanford University Libraries, is an open-source software that allows participating libraries to collect, store, and preserve authoritative copies of the journal content.

  • Integrity Verification: The system continuously and automatically verifies the integrity of the archived content across multiple library caches. If any content is found to be corrupted or lost in one cache, the system detects this and restores it from other reliable caches within the network.

  • Perpetual Access: This distributed approach guarantees that the journal’s content remains accessible to its users even if the journal or its publishing platform were to cease operations.

2. The CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) Archive

Hastagina: Jurnal Kriya dan Industri Kreatif is a participant in the CLOCKSS initiative, which serves as a secure, long-term dark archive.

  • Secure Dark Archive: CLOCKSS operates as a non-profit collaboration between major research libraries and publishers. It preserves the journal content on a geographically distributed network of secure servers in 12 major research institutions around the world.

  • Trigger Event Protection: The content remains "dark" (inaccessible) until a "Trigger Event" is declared. A Trigger Event occurs when the journal content is no longer available from the publisher (e.g., due to economic failure, catastrophic data loss, or cessation of publication).

  • Open Access Guarantee: Should a Trigger Event occur, the CLOCKSS Board will vote to activate the content. Once activated, the journal’s entire archive will be immediately made available to the public under a Creative Commons license (CC BY 4.0), ensuring perpetual Open Access to the scholarly record.

3. Institutional Repositories

In addition to using LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, the journal encourages authors to deposit the published version of their articles in their institutional or subject-specific repositories (Self-Archiving) to further promote long-term access and global dissemination, as permitted under the journal’s CC BY 4.0 license.
