Plagiarism Policy
Hastagina: Jurnal Kriya dan Industri Kreatif is deeply committed to ensuring the integrity of the scholarly work it publishes. Plagiarism is considered a serious breach of publication ethics and will not be tolerated. This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to the journal.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the act of presenting the ideas, words, data, or work of another person (including the author's own previously published work) as if they were one’s own original work, without providing proper attribution or citation. Forms of plagiarism include:

Direct Plagiarism (Literal Copying): Copying large portions of text without using quotation marks and proper citation.

Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Using another person’s ideas or words and slightly changing them without clear attribution.

Source Plagiarism: Citing a secondary source while claiming to have read the primary source, or failing to cite the original source altogether.

Self-Plagiarism (Redundant Publication): Re-publishing a substantial portion of one's own previously published work without adequate citation or acknowledgment.
2. Similarity Check Procedure
Every manuscript submitted to Hastagina: Jurnal Kriya dan Industri Kreatif will undergo a similarity check using an accredited anti-plagiarism software (such as Turnitin or equivalent) during the initial screening phase.

Hastagina: Jurnal Kriya dan Industri Kreatif enforces a strict tolerance threshold for the Similarity Index result:

The Maximum Permitted Similarity Index is 20% (Twenty Percent) of the total manuscript text.

Any manuscript registering a Similarity Index above 20% will be treated as a case of potential misconduct and will result in an immediate desk-rejection or mandatory substantial revision before proceeding to the peer-review process.
Note: The similarity check will exclude the bibliography/references section, quoted material (if properly marked), and common technical phrases.
3. Procedure and Sanctions for Misconduct
Should the editorial team detect plagiarism or a breach of this policy, the case will be handled following the guidelines and flowcharts established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE):

Similarity Index 20% - 30%: The manuscript will be returned to the author(s) with mandatory revision instructions to improve paraphrasing and ensure proper, accurate citation.

Similarity Index > 30%: The manuscript will be immediately rejected and will not be processed further.

Severe Misconduct: In cases of intentional and substantial plagiarism, the author(s) may face severe sanctions, including: permanent rejection of the manuscript, a formal ban from submitting any future work to the journal, and official notification to the author's affiliated institution.
Authors' Obligation
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that the submitted manuscript is their original work and that all sources used have been accurately and appropriately cited.
