Abstract
This article describes the design of the illustrated storybook “Be Jeleg Tresna Telaga” as a medium for character education for Indonesian children. The design of this picture storybook aims to introduce and provide character education from the hidden morals in the picture story. The data used consists of data obtained during a news survey that is currently circulating in the internet media and library data which is the primary data in the design of this illustrated story. These data were collected by using interviews, observation, and literature methods. From the survey results, it was found that there were several criminal cases where the perpetrators were underage (teenagers). This is due to moral degradation. Therefore, it is necessary to have character education from an early age. One of them is through the media of the illustrated storybook "Be Jeleg Tresna Telaga" which the author designed.
